Privacy Policy for Haven

1. Who we are

Haven is a personal budgeting app developed by an independent developer. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.

2. What data Haven collects

Haven is a local-first app. All the information you enter — transactions, account balances, categories, budgets, financial goals, and notes — is created by you and stored only in the app's local storage on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you turn on Google Drive backup.

We do not collect, receive, or have access to any of your financial data ourselves. There is no server that Haven sends your information to for our use.

3. Google Drive backup (optional)

If you choose to enable backup, Haven uses Google Sign-In to connect to your Google account and stores an encrypted-format backup file in a special, private area of your Google Drive called the "app data folder." This folder:

• Is only accessible by Haven, not by you browsing your regular Drive files, and not by any other app
• Is used solely to let you restore your data if you reinstall the app or switch devices
• Is never accessed, viewed, or transmitted to us — it goes directly between your device and your own Google Drive account

You can disconnect Google Drive access at any time from within the app, or by revoking Haven's access directly in your Google Account settings.

4. Notifications

If you enable budget alerts, Haven schedules notifications directly on your device using Android's local notification system. This does not involve sending any data anywhere — it happens entirely on your phone.

5. Internet access

Haven connects to the internet only for two optional features:

• Google Drive backup/restore (described above)
• Live exchange rate updates, which fetches current currency conversion rates from a public exchange-rate service. This request does not include any of your personal or financial data — only a currency code (e.g., "USD") is sent to retrieve rates.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with any third party for any purpose, including advertising or marketing. Haven contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software.

7. Data deletion

Since all your data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in your device settings. If you've used Google Drive backup, you can also delete the backup file by revoking Haven's Google Drive access in your Google Account settings.

8. Children's privacy

Haven is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Since Haven doesn't collect contact information from you, we're not able to notify you directly — please check back here periodically if you'd like to stay informed.
